Don’t Wish your Time Away.
“Just get to Friday.”
“Roll on summer.”
“I can’t wait until this stage is over.”
We say it so casually, don’t we? Like life is a queue we’re impatiently shuffling through and jump it.
But somewhere between wishing away Mondays, waiting for payday, counting down to holidays, and hoping things “settle down soon”… entire chapters quietly pass us by. The now. The magic in day to day life.
The toddler who wanted “one more story” suddenly rolls their eyes at you from the passenger seat. when they are that bit older and we WANT to read that extra story and they don’t.
The chaos you swore you won’t miss one day becomes a distant memory before you realise it’s already gone. The opportunities to make memories go with it.
Even the difficult seasons, the messy, uncertain, frustrating ones, often leave behind lessons, strength, or moments we never saw coming.
That doesn’t mean you have to love every moment. Some days are heavy. Some seasons feel like walking through wet cement in slippers held together by pure sarcasm and caffeine. But there’s a difference between wanting relief and accidentally living everywhere except the present.
We spend so much time waiting for life to begin properly:
“When I’m less stressed.”
“When I’ve healed.”
“When I have more money.”
“When things finally make sense.”
Meanwhile, life is sat there tapping its foot like:
“Hi. I’ve actually been happening this whole time and you are allowing me to pass by”
Mindfulness taught me something powerful:
the ordinary moments are not filler episodes.
The cup of coffee gone cold because you were helping someone.
The five minutes of peace in the car before going inside.
The laugh-snort at something ridiculous.
The way the evening light hits the kitchen.
The dog following you to the toilet like an unpaid security guard.
This is the stuff life is made of. This is the real stuff.
Not every moment will feel magical. That is true, but presence creates a kind of quiet richness that rushing never can. When we stop constantly reaching ahead, we begin noticing what’s already here.
And honestly?
Sometimes the life we’re desperate to “get through” is the very life we once prayed for. Look at the you of 5 or 10 years ago. I bet that you are where you wanted to be right now in some way.
So yes, plan things. Dream big. Look forward to beautiful things ahead. But don’t sprint past today trying to arrive at tomorrow faster.
Time is like slippery little bits stardust.
Don’t hand it away before you’ve lived it.
Jade is the perfect companion when life feels like the race you have found yourself wrapped up in without even realising. It is an old and wise energy. It is like a hand on the shoulder reminding you to breath and be present.

Experience life while you are living it. Life isn’t a countdown to the next thing. It is a collection of moments. If you don’t slow down then you may miss some meaningful ones that arrive quietly
